Dora's Story

When Dora developed nodules on her vocal folds while singing with a gospel group in 1990, it was the spark that ignited her passion for pursuing a career in speech-language pathology. During her prescribed weeks of voice rest, she thoroughly studied her condition and wrote a research paper on the anatomy and care of the voice. This led to teaching seminars on vocal hygiene at music conferences held at the seminary she was attending for the next four years. Dora was inspired by her speech-pathologist's approach to vocal pedagogy utilizing proven techniques from the Performing Arts and Science to improve vocal performance.

Music Career

Dora studied Music Ministry and Theology at Jackson College of Ministries in Jackson, Mississippi with Grammy winner Lanny Wolfe and at Christian Life College in Stockton, California. Dora toured and recorded with Dove Award Nominees, Wayne and Elizabeth Goodine, as soprano in the Wayne Goodine Singers.  Dora toured extensively throughout the United States, across Canada, and Jamaica. In 1992, she won 1st place for Inspirational Song Writing at the Christian Artist Seminar in the Rockies for her song, "Scars." In 1994, Dora performed with the Lanny Wolfe Singers for the United States Armed forces in GITMO as they prepared to invade Haiti. Dora's solo recording project, "I Will Sing," produced by Geron Davis was released in 2013.
